Our Bodies on Trial
A powerful novel about the recognition of rape as a crime in the 1970s.
At a party, Myriam, 17, meets Franck, a medical student. They go out for a while before Franck invites Myriam to his house and rapes her. Meanwhile, "the rape trial" with famous defence lawyer, Gisèle Halimi, makes headlines on television. Myriam will then find the strength to brave her family’s fear of bad reputation and file a complaint. Franck is sentenced to four year in prison for rape and Myriam can start living again.
