Dandy Rabbit’s Great Journey

  • When adventure comes knocking at the door of Dandy, a home-loving rabbit set in his ways, anxiety begins to rise…

Dandy Rabbit, the happy owner of a cosy little house and a tidy garden, one day receives an unexpected letter: he has won a trip to Australia!

But... Australia is much too far away for him! And who will look after his garden? His neighbours try to reassure him, but Dandy can’t sleep...
On the day of departure, he sets off, passes the small pond behind his house, ventures into the woods, and secretly pitches his tent out of sight.

In secret, he spies on his neighbours: there’s nothing to worry about — his garden lacks for nothing!

After three days, Dandy Rabbit has had enough of the rain, the wind, and canned carrots. He returns home and, ashamed, tells his friends the truth.

They then discover that Dandy Rabbit has got the date wrong: the trip isn’t for another ten days!

Hearing this, Dandy stays calm. His whiskers don’t twitch. Life is full of surprises, and now he’s finally ready to welcome this one!

    IN THE MEDIA

"Adorable and moving." - Ambre Chalumeau, Quotidien - major French TV talk show.

"This picture book delights in subtlety, both in form (Chiaki Okada's very soft pencil illustrations) and in content, as it tells how difficult it is to admit that sometimes we don't want the luck that comes our way." - Le Monde (children's books monthly picks)

"It looks as if a coloured pencil has spread its shivers of joy across the entire page(...) a downy, enveloping album that gives you wings" - Télérama
