Mother Wolf

An awe-inspiring fable woven in a forest, showing how nature gives back to those who watch over it, from award-winning creators Nadine Robert and Todd Stewart.

 

In an icy, desolate forest, a mother wolf and her two pups are fighting to survive. The hunger that has plagued them for days has left them starved for food — and starved for options.

When the trio takes sudden notice of a raven on their tail, the mother wolf compels her little pack to follow where the bird is attempting to lead them. The path may be unexpected, but this new journey will soon reveal to them the ways in which the forest tends to the needs of its own.

Mother Wolf is an epic yet reassuring tale that shows us how generous nature can be to those who care for it and protect it.

 

 

THE AUTHOR

Nadine Robert, the founder of the publishing house Comme des géants, has always had a strong passion for illustrated children’s books that have a powerfully built narrative approach combined with strong images. She is a recipient of the 2022 Governor General’s Award for her story Clover, and has received Best Book of the Year honours from Kirkus and a New York Times/New York Public Library Best Illustrated Children’s Book award. She lives in Montréal with her family.

 

 

THE ILLUSTRATOR

 

Todd Stewart is a picture-book author and illustrator, filmmaker, and self-taught printmaker whose works have been exhibited in public and private exhibition spaces across Canada. He is a two-time nominee of the Governor General’s Literary Award, taking home the prize in 2024 for Skating Wild on an Inland Sea (Groundwood Books), and was also a TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award recipient in 2020. Raised in the Canadian Prairies, he currently lives in Montréal with his family.
